TOPIC #1: Secure 2.0 Act Overview & Impact
SPEAKER: Eric M. Endress, CFA, AIF®  

About the presentation: The Secure 2.0 Act was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden in late December 2022.  The Act builds on the Secure Act of 2019, with the goal of expanding retirement plan access and flexibility.  We will review the key provisions of Secure 2.0 and the impact to plan sponsors, participants, and plan advisors.

About the Speaker: Eric is a senior vice president for CBIZ Retirement Plan Services and is associated with CBIZ Investment Advisory Services as a financial advisor. Eric helps plan sponsors manage the personal liability associated with being a fiduciary to a qualified plan. He works with plan sponsors to help them meet their organization’s retirement plan goals. He provides consulting services to private and public companies, as well as not-for-profit organizations.  Through CBIZ IAS, Eric provides investment consulting and management to defined contribution and defined benefit plans, cash balance plans, endowments and foundations.

SPEAKER: Jeff Malbasa 

About the presentation: An update from Capital Group/American funds for your client portfolio conversations.

About the Speaker: Jeff Malbasa is a relationship manager at Capital Group, home of American Funds. He has 20 years of industry experience and has been with Capital Group for six years. Prior to joining Capital, Jeff was a partner & head of the Cleveland office at HPM Partners. Before that, he was president & chief investment officer at Spero-Smith Investment Advisers, Inc. He holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University and a bachelor’s degree in economics as well as a bachelor’s degree in history, both from Tufts University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. Jeff is based in Cleveland, Ohio.


Continuing Education: FPA NEO will request credit for these programs, which will total two hours of CE from the CFP® Board of Standards for CFP® designation holders. A general certificate of completion and one for CPA designees who feel the program satisfies their continuing education requirements will also be available.

Reservation Policy: All attendees are encouraged to register in advance before noon 01/18/23 and walk-in reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis only. In person meeting cost is free for FPA members and $60 for non-members.  If you reserve and are unable to attend, please call the office or email admin@fpa-neo.org to cancel by noon 01/18/23 to avoid a no-show reservation billing of $10.00.
