Symposium Series Week 2: Thoughtful Approaches to Fund/Manager Research

October 8, 2020

9:00 am - 10:15 am

Location: Zoom

Each Thursday morning during the month of October FPA NEO will be hosting a webinar as part of the Symposium Series 2020! We hope you will join us for all or some of the sessions!

Speaker: Jeffery Markarian, Managing Director, Harbor Capital Advisors, Inc.

About the session: Researching investment managers can be a daunting and time-consuming task.   The world of mutual funds and ETFs is constantly changing.  New investment products are constantly coming to market while legacy products and investment styles go in and out of favor.  How can an advisor sort through all the noise to get the desired outcomes without taking a significant amount of time away from growing their business?  A thoughtful yet efficient process to investment manager research is essential.  While there is no one right way, having a structured process utilizing the available resources allows an advisor to focus on what matters most.  In this session, Harbor Capital Advisors, a firm that has been conducting manager research for over 45 years, shares best practices and how advisors can create a strong manager due diligence program while limiting time away from their clients.

About the speaker: Jeffery Markarian is a managing director at Harbor Capital Advisors, Inc. He is a member of the Investment & Portfolio Management team, which is responsible for the identification, evaluation, and selection of investment managers for the Harbor Funds and the Harbor Capital Group Trust. Prior to joining Harbor Capital Advisors, Jeff was a senior research consultant at NEPC, LLC.  His responsibilities included serving as the lead research representative in Global, International, and Emerging Market equities. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Boston University.
