TOPIC #1: Ohio’s 529 CollegeAdvantage
SPEAKER: Tim C. Gorrell
About the presentation: Learn how Ohio’s 529 CollegeAdvantage has helped families for over 30 years save and prepare for education after high school. Ohio’s 529 Plan is offered and administered by the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, (OTTA), a state agency under the Office of the Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Ohio is the seventh-largest state sponsor of 529 plan in the country. Ohio’s 529 Plan is offered as the CollegeAdvantage Direct 529 Savings Plan and the Blackrock CollegeAdvantage 529 Plan, which is offered and marketed through BlackRock and sold through professional financial advisors.
About the Speaker: As executive director of the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, Tim Gorrell is responsible for leading the agency and its 35 employees, recommending and implementing the investment strategy as approved by an 11-member fiduciary investment board, and managing the overall operations of the Ohio’s 529 Plan/CollegeAdvantage. Prior to assuming his current role, he served as Director of Veterans Services for the state of Ohio and as a Deputy Inspector General. He retired from the US Army as a Colonel after 31 years of service.
TOPIC #2: STRS Ohio Pension Benefits and Health Care

About the presentation: This presentation will cover STRS Ohio demographic information, pension eligibility and a health care update.
About the Speaker: Tamla Cole is the Assistant Director of Member Education at STRS Ohio, responsible for the development and administration of retirement education programs for the STRS Ohio membership. Serving now for over 22 years, she understands that retirement readiness is a process that begins at the onset of employment. Her department provides educational opportunities for members throughout every stage of their career including post retirement. Tamla earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Capital University and a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Franklin University. She currently resides in Columbus, Ohio.
Continuing Education: FPA NEO will request credit for these programs, which will total two hours of CE from the CFP® Board of Standards for CFP® designation holders. A general certificate of completion and one for CPA designees who feel the program satisfies their continuing education requirements will also be available.
Reservation Policy: All attendees are encouraged to register in advance before noon 03/15/23 and walk-in reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis only. In person meeting cost is free for FPA members and $60 for non-members. If you reserve and are unable to attend, please call the office or email admin@fpa-neo.org to cancel by noon 0315/23 to avoid a no-show reservation billing of $10.00.
