TOPIC #1: Putnam’s Active Insights
SPEAKER: Christian J. Galipeau

About the presentation: Chris will provide an investment framework from our Capital Market Strategies team and implications from investment market attributes. We monitor four critical building blocks as we think about our outlook and the specific rationale for our research.  We will provide insight with an empirical perspective that assists our capital market professionals.  This “Active Insights” research will examine scenarios that we believe will most likely play out and the most sensible approach for financial success.

About the Speaker: Chris Galipeau is a Senior Market Strategist and the Team Leader of Capital Market Strategies in the Global Investment Strategies group at Putnam Investments. He is responsible for communicating Putnam’s investment views and opinions to internal and external clients. Additionally, Chris leads the team’s research efforts and shares key insights on the economy and financial markets with Putnam clients. He joined Putnam in 2013 and has been in the investment industry since 1992. Chris was recognized by CNN/Money Magazine as the top-ranked equity research provider in the United States in 2002 and is a member of the CFA Society Boston and the Market Technicians Association.

TOPIC #2: The Professional Referral Method: Becoming the Trusted Advisor
SPEAKER: Scott M. Tatum, CIMA, CFP®

About the presentation: In today’s challenging environment, Financial Advisors are increasingly marketing not only to clients, but also to professional intermediaries who serve as gatekeepers to wealthy families. To accommodate this shift, Financial Advisors must change their messaging from one that is valuable to one that is referable. The Professional Referral Method offers four specific strategies for executing a messaging process to this new market. This program provides instructions for creating warm introductions to professionals, then teaches how to develop a referable message, structure a presentation for an intermediary, and close a meeting for an action.

About the Speaker: Scott Tatum is the Director of the AB Advisor Institute, where he provides and helps develop consulting and training for financial advisors and key leaders at AB’s partner firms, specifically in the areas of strategic marketing, effective communications with clients, and practice-management strategies. He joined AllianceBernstein in 2008 from MFS Investment Management, where he was a regional vice president. Tatum’s three-decade career includes eight years as regional vice president at OppenheimerFunds and seven years as national sales manager at financial services firm HD Vest. He holds a BBA (cum laude) in marketing from the University of North Texas. In addition to being a Certified Financial Planner® professional and a Certified Investment Management Analyst®, Tatum carries NASD Series 7, 24, 53 and 63 licenses.

Continuing Education: FPA NEO will request credit for these programs, which will total two hours of CE from the CFP® Board of Standards for CFP® designation holders. A general certificate of completion and one for CPA designees who feel the program satisfies their continuing education requirements will also be available.
