TOPIC #1: The 411 on Ohio’s 529
SPEAKER: Tim Gorrell

About the Program: This will be an overview and update on Ohio’s 529 College Savings Plan, CollegeAdvantage.  The update will include recent changes to 529 plans, new milestones for CollegeAdvantage and several new initiatives congress is purposing for 529 plans. We will also talk about the upcoming “Back to School” campaign and the 30th Anniversary.

About the Speaker: As executive director of the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, Tim Gorrell is responsible for leading the state agency and its 35 employees, recommending and implementing the investment strategy as approved by the fiduciary OTTA Investment Board, and managing the overall operations of the CollegeAdvantage 529 Savings Program, which includes over 642,229 accounts with over $12.4 billion in assets as of June 30, 2019.

TOPIC #2: Medicare 101
SPEAKER: Alicia Nighland

About the Program: This presentation will go over the basics of Medicare including who is eligible, how someone enrolls, and when someone enrolls. Also, Medicare 101 will discuss the different parts of Medicare including Part A, B, and D. You’ll learn the difference between Medicare Supplemental policies and Medicare Advantage, and how to compare different options. Also covered will be the annual enrollment periods for beneficiaries.

About the Speaker: Alicia Nighland is a Community Liaison for OSHIIP – the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program.  Alicia joined OSHIIP in 2012. Her duties include recruiting and training new volunteer counselors in thirteen of Ohio’s counties and traveling throughout the state establishing new contacts, attending networking meetings, developing partnerships, and promoting OSHIIP services. Alicia also counsels Medicare beneficiaries on their insurance options and serves as part of the OSHIIP speaker’s bureau giving presentations to the public and interested groups regarding Medicare- including Medicare Parts A, B, D, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplemental Insurance as well as Long-Term Care Insurance. Alicia has two B.A. degrees in Strategic Communication and Theatre from The Ohio State University. She lives in Hebron with her husband and enjoys the outdoors.

Continuing Education – FPA NEO will request credit for these programs, which will total two hours of CE from the CFP® Board of Standards for CFP® designation holders. A general certificate of completion and one for CPA designees who feel the program satisfies their continuing education requirements will also be available.

Reservation Policy – All attendees are encouraged to register in advance before noon 09/16/19 and walk-in reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis only.  Meeting cost is free for FPA members and $60 for non-members.  If you reserve and are unable to attend, please call the office or email admin@fpa-neo.org to cancel by noon 09/16/19 to avoid a no-show reservation billing of $10.00.
